SUMMARY:Technology as the Great Equalizer
DESCRIPTION:The WICT Network: Rocky Mountain is proud to invite you to join us for Technology as the Great Equalizer event with Mike Hess of Blind Institute of Technology!\n \nAfter 20 years as a tech veteran managing 7-figure projects for Fortune 500 companies\, one thing troubled Mike: he was always the token blind guy. Knowing that the invaluable skills he developed because of his blindness were the keys to his success\, he couldn’t understand why unemployment amongst the BVI community was so high. He embarked on a journey to change corporate America’s stigmas and misperceptions of BVI professionals\, developing Blind Institute of Technology. Using the same skills that made him a success in IT\, Mike has built partnerships and placed BVI professionals in Fortune 500 companies nationwide. \nRecognizing the further need to equip people with disabilities with marketable and current tech skills\, Mike established the BIT Academy and forged a valuable partnership with Salesforce\, making the BIT Academy the only nationally recognized\, registered apprenticeship program to include BVI in the country. In line with our dedication to leveling the playing field\, individuals with disabilities require high-level certifications to compete effectively. That’s why everything undertaken in the Academy is geared toward achieving this important objective\, offering specialized courses in Salesforce Administration and Digital Accessibility Analysis. \nDetails\nMay 9\, 2024 at 4:00 p.m.\nIn-person event at Spectrum Plaza\nFree for members\, $10 for non-members
